September 1st 2021 (the following week) was the first day after three initial orientation days. At the start of the day, Janne (instructor) explained the essential tools needed to deliver lectures and workshops online. The procedure for basic testing of Microsoft Teams to conduct webinars was explained. After the initial introduction and guidance on the use of different tools, tasks were assigned to the groups.

Tasks were dependent on the successful usage of tools, and digital badges could be earned by completing them; the first task as a group was to open the cameras and engage in some chat together.

Next, every group member had to share their favourite animal picture (in the form of a link in the conversation) and explain why they like that specific animal. Everyone posted a link to their favourite animal pictures and described it in the meeting. Following this, everyone had to select one favourite place, share the screen and explain their choice. All four members of our group chose our favourite places and presented them to everyone. Before starting the next step, we were instructed to begin recording, and one group member began to record the video. However, we later realized she had somehow managed to press the button twice, so that the recording had stopped immediately and nothing had been recorded. None of the team members had noticed this at the time; it was nevertheless an opportunity to learn an important lesson.

Later on, I opened Google Drive and started an online PowerPoint presentation. We all placed the pictures of our favourite animals in the PowerPoint, worked online simultaneously on our slides, and described the above activities in written form. We then checked the pictures for copyright before sharing the link with the instructor. The presentation slides are attached below.

After this exercise, all groups went to the 'General Teams Channel' and shared their initial experiences of the online tasks and teaching in the newly formed group. Every team shared insightful thoughts and ideas, which helped us all to learn different skills and tricks. I think it was also a practical example of learning by doing.

There were various tricks and techniques that all colleagues explained to each other, and very soon we were ready to go ahead with the final presentations.

Once the discussion session was over, everyone went back into their groups and planned for the following lecture and assignment (to be submitted by 8.9.2021). After some group discussion, we formed our teams. We decided to meet again on Friday, as everyone wanted to read materials before working on the upcoming assignments.
